
In her second year in the NWSL, Kaitlyn Torpey joined the Thorns to strengthen its backline prior to the start of the 2025 season.
Torpey had lifted the NWSL Challenge Cup with San Diego Wave FC the year prior to joining Portland and before that, had eight professional seasons of experience in Australia’s A-League. She debuted at 18 in 2016 with her hometown side Brisbane Roar and spent five years there, highlighted by a 1st place league finish in the 2017/18 season. She would then make the move to Melbourne City in 2021 and helped the squad in its 2023/24 campaign in which saw them finish top of the table and secure qualification to the 2024-25 AFC Women’s Champions League.
Torpey has 12 caps and 1 goal for the Australian National Team and played all matches for the Matildas at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. She was also a member of Australia’s squad at the 2017 AFC U-19 Championship.
