INDIO, Calif. (Saturday, February 21, 2025) – The Portland Thorns closed out their participation at the 2026 Coachella Valley Invitational with a 1-1 draw vs the Houston Dash on Saturday morning at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
With both sides featuring rotated squads, Portland and Houston went back and forth in the first half as they looked to strike the net but the first 45 minutes would end scoreless. It was after the halftime break that Houston scored first off an own goal when the ball hit the cross bar then ricocheted off Thorns defender Isabella Obaze into the net.
However, Portland forward Deyna Castellanos would have an immediate response a minute later to level things back up, sending an incredible shot from half field to put the ball over Houston goalkeeper Caroline DeLisle.
Thorns forward Pietra Tordin had a strong one-on-one opportunity to put Portland ahead late in the match, but the effort was blocked by DeLisle and the match would go on to finish as a draw.
UP NEXT: The Portland Thorns will host C.F. Monterrey at 7 p.m. PT on Friday, March 6 at Providence Park for the final preseason contest ahead of the 2026 NWSL Season. Tickets for the preseason match are on sale now at thorns.com/tickets.
