PORTLAND, Ore. (July 17, 2026) – The Portland Thorns announced today that it has signed forward Pietra Tordin to a multi-year contract extension, securing her stay in the Rose City through 2029.
“Pietra has established herself as one of the NWSL’s brightest young talents and has been enjoying a tremendous season,” President and General Manager of Soccer Operations Jeff Agoos said. “She has the talent and character to become an important part of this club's future. She's embraced every opportunity and made a real impact on the field while bringing an infectious energy to our locker room. This extension reflects our belief in her potential and our excitement about the role she'll continue to play as we build to compete for titles.”
The 22-year-old’s creative playmaking ability has been praised league wide, and she has been highly productive in the final third this year. She currently leads the NWSL with six assists and has scored four goals for the Thorns, Portland’s co-leader in total goal contributions with 10 alongside midfielder Olivia Moultrie. In total, Tordin has tallied eight goals and six assists in league play for Portland.
Tordin has successfully represented the United States at the youth level and is emerging as one of the top emerging talents for the senior national team pool. She first garnered national attention in 2024 following her performance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup where she finished as the top goalscorer for the U.S. with four to her name, including a hat trick against Paraguay. Tordin helped guide the U.S. to a third-place finish, their best performance at the tournament since 2012. She was also called up to the senior national team’s “Futures Camp” in January 2025, practicing aside and learning from senior team players and coaches.
